Research Reveals Some Frogs Live More Than 34 Years
2009 March 25
Scientists in New Zealand have been conducting a study of the Maud Island frog (not the one pictured) for more than 25 years and they have confirmed that there are three frogs that are at least 34 years old. The field study of frogs is one of the longest running studies done and the frogs from Maud Island are some of the oldest frogs in the wild. Other frogs such as the Archey’s frog is known to have lived over 23 years and the Hochstetter’s frog over 12 years.
